Dermal Fillers are used to literally “fill” skin that has lost tissue volume. The new fillers are made of natural ingredients such as calcium and hyaluronic acid.

The most common areas where filler is used are:

  • Nasal labial folds – the lines from the corners of your nose to the corners of your mouth
  • Marrionette lines – lines from the corners of your mouth that run toward your chin
  • Cheeks
  • Lips
  • Facial wrinkles
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Corners of the mouth

Juvéderm™ is a smooth gel filler that eases under the skin to instantly smooth out “Parentheses Lines” on the sides of your nose and mouth. So smooth and natural that everyone will notice, but no one will know. Juvéderm™, an FDA-approved cosmetic dermal filler, is made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body.

Juvéderm™ is used to treat superficial lines and wrinkles but also more pronounced, deeper wrinkles (your laugh lines, for example). Juvéderm™ restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, giving a smoother, more youthful appearance. Our Medical Director Julie Benzie will personally be performing these procedures. Julie has undergone intense training from recognized leaders in the field of cosmetics and is considered a leading expert in the field of cosmetic injections. Julie travels to Beverly Hills, CA three times per year as part of the faculty of The American Association of Aesthetics Medicine and Surgery to teach Doctors and Nurses the art of cosmetic injections with Botox and all Dermal Fillers. Our Advanced Nurse Injector, Heather Davidson, RN also has extensive training in the art of cosmetic injections and performs these procedures. A one on one consultation to discuss your cosmetic goal is recommended.

Juvederm is one of the newest, “next generation” substances known as “dermal fillers” or “injectable fillers.” Because more patients want quick procedures that show almost immediate results with little, or no, downtime, Juvederm has become extremely popular with consumers and is the #1 dermal filler in the United States.

Juvederm® is a natural polysaccharide, that in appropriate form, is a versatile soft tissue filler. Juvederm® is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid distributed by Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox®. Hyaluronic acid is one of very few substances that is identical in all species and tissue types and therefore it can be used in many medical applications. In Juvederm® it restores youthful resilience to your skin by simply adding to your natural supply.

Juvederm® is commonly used in cheek augmentation, naso-labial folds, lip augmentation, worry lines, tear trough, and in the hands. Juvederm® is packaged in different viscosities such as Juvederm Ultra® and Juvederm Ultra Plus® which can be used for larger wrinkles and folds or for greater correction. The higher viscosity and concentration of hyaluronic acid the longer the duration that the treatments are effective, typically dermal fillers last 8-12 months or longer depending upon where they are placed and the type of filler used. Anesthesia can be used for sensitive areas or may not be needed as the product includes Lidocaine for additional comfort. Due to Juvederm Voluma XC® having a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid with a higher viscosity, the FDA has approved this filler for up to 2 years.

After injection, the product binds to water and generally remains for many months. Non-stabilized hyaluronic acid products, by comparison, last only a few days or several weeks at most. As a totally non-animal product, there is no risk of transmitting disease or eliciting allergic reaction in patients who are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken and eggs.

We carry (4) forms of Juvederm® products that are specially designed for different purposes and effects, from eliminating tiny lines to enhancing facial contours and sculpting lips to perfection.

  • JUVEDERM ULTRA for wrinkle correction and lip enhancements.
  • JUVEDERM ULTRA PLUS for shaping facial contours, such as cheeks and chin, correcting deep folds, and volume augmentation of the lips
  • JUVEDERM ULTRA/ULTRA PLUS XC the same great benefits as mentioned above with the addition of lidocaine to the Juvederm. The anesthetic is built in to the filler to eliminate any discomfort associated with the treatment.
  • JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC injectable gel is indicated for deep (subcutaneous and/or supraperiosteal) injection for cheek augmentation to correct age-related volume deficit in the mid-face in adults.

How long a treatment holds its effect is very individual. This depends on many factors, such as your age, skin type, life style and muscle activity as well as on the injection technique. The gel particles in Juvederm® are absorbed so slowly that you have ample time for maintenance treatments. As the gel breaks down, water takes its place. The less concentrated the gel becomes, the more water it is able to bind. These facts are the main reasons that treatments with Juvederm® products last so long.

When totally absorbed the gel disappears unnoticed from the body. Most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment six to twelve months after an initial treatment of wrinkles or facial contouring. After lip treatments, a follow-up is normally needed after about six months. You always have the choice to continue or change the combination of treatments, and the procedure can be repeated as often as you like you are always in charge of your looks.
